Founded
in 1972, William L. French Sr., President and
CEO, took the first step in making his vision
a reality by founding W.L. French Excavating Corporation.
With the purchase of a single dump truck the company
was on its way. Very much a family business from
inception, Bill’s wife Nancy French was
instrumental in the day–to-day management
that shaped and grew the business. Through his
outstanding work ethic, honesty and commitment
to going the extra mile for his customers, Bill
quickly developed a solid reputation throughout
the industry. Backed with this reputation and
the loyalty of his customers Bill, with the help
of his son Bill Jr. in more recent years, propelled
the vision toward what we are today – a
respected, large, full-service construction company
specializing in site development, contract trucking,
disposal and more.
Focusing
on site development and trucking
The company has always maintained a focus on both
site development and trucking and has established
itself as a major presence in both industries.
In order to maintain that focus and further the
company’s presence in the market, the French
family has continued to build a strong arsenal
of equipment throughout the company’s more
than 33-year history. Today, our fleet is made
up of over 70 pieces of equipment on which we
proudly display the original W.L.

 Hands-on
approach
Throughout its history, this family-owned and
operated business has never strayed from its roots
and the characteristics and values that have made
it strong. Bill French, Sr. still takes the lead
in the hands-on, old-fashioned approach that helped
define the nature of the organization nearly 35
years ago. From the steam cleaning of every piece
of equipment nightly to the exact locations of
footings on a particular job, Bill continues to
be involved and continues to be committed to his
vision of making W.L. French
Excavating Corporation the best it can
be. And, like Bill Sr. the entire company is committed
to staying true to the fundamental principles
that the company was built on – dedication,
honesty and pride.
